Our new Disco td5 has a radio cassette
Sorry used to CD in car:D
Does anyone know if i replace the headunit with a CD player;
A do Autoleads make an adapter to plug into the new headunit?
B will the steering wheel buttons still work?

Thanks,

have you looked under the drivers seat ?
at the front, on the plastic base, is a little flap door.
open it and the cd changer maybe in there.

No CD player there. Not worried will replace the headunit with an mp3 compatable cd player. How easy is it to get the factory fit one out? and will the wheel buttons still work?

Cheers,

not sure on the steering buttons, but to get the unit out, guessing as to the type and age could be a 2.5mm allen key.

OK Help again, tried to extract the radio today, inserted two skewers into the holes on the head unit and pulled nothing happened:confused:
Am I supposed to "click" anything before i pull ? or are there any release catches on the side?

Once again thanks,

i changed my head unit for a pop out dvd/tv into my 2001 TD5, sorry to say the steering controls are Head unit specific. Will only work with wotever control box is fitted to the bulkhead behind the unit. Mine was a alpine, and WILL NOT work with pioneer. Shame, but you'll get used too it.

Normally there are four holes two left hand and two right hand side of head unit.

Best "tool" is two pieces of wire coat hanger bent into U shapes. each tail of the U should be 100-150mm long. Insert the U's into the left and right sides until you feel the clips release. Then by putting pressure on the inner edge of the U outwards from the radio this should compress the release clips against the side of the radio. Maintain this pressure and pull on the U the radio should come out.

Normally works on most Phillips based radios.

Well what a PITA that was!!
Only had two holes on the front of the Radio, made some prongs and spent about 1/2hr pushing and pulling but no good, left it and went to halfords to get my new machine, whilst there I asked how much to remove the head unit?
£5 was the answer, Ok i said, it then took them 1/2hr to work it out!!
Turns out there are two allen screws, one in each hole.
New JVC installed no probs. inc steering wheel control module, so all buttons work. so all in all a good job done.

when you have the pullers in push them right in them pull them apart and then towards yourself, its should free from the cage them ans slide strait out. personally i would leave it and just get the multichanger, save faffing round and am sure you would find an origional one on ebay cheap enough.?
