Doing the old 200tdi conversion on me 90 this weekend and been thinking about what to do about the egg sauce, my search's have come up with a few threads on them and I am considering the strait through side exit route :Dbetween the passenger door and the back wheel, but my neighbour believes this is illegal, he thinks that it is illegal to have it going out on the pavement side as it would blow at pedestrians, does anyone concur with this or have any ideas?

Yep mine has been through two mots with the side exit, no problem.

The coolest thing to do with a side exit is to wait until a balding t.w.a.t. pulls up next to you in an overpriced convertable, then turn off your engine and restart, gassing him with black smoke.....

They get so upset :D

mine has passed 3 mot's like it...

the only comments i have ever had are ' you lost your fuel cap'.

sat in traffic next to an open top roadster is a little embaressing as your idling all over their face!

Normal exhausts are on that side anyway so shouldn't be a problem, some moters may have a problem with no silencers, as exhausts are meant to be 'similar to that of other similar vehicles' but as shown it's not usually a problem.

Been a hard day today, just to get the bumper and a bar off took about an hour every bolt on me 90 just didn't want to budge, got some seriously cut nuckles :( wished i had thought ahead and soaked every thing in wd40 the night before:doh:, and to add to it little man(he's only two) kept walking of with me tools, any how I've only got to take the bolts out of the gear box and the old lump is ready to shifted tomorrow:D my plan for the egg sauce is to just cut up the old egg sauce which is a td one and join with clamps for now then if it's sounds ok I'll get some brand new pipe work and fab a new one fully welded using the old clamped one as a template:D, will keep this thread updated with my progress as I go and if I can get some pics.

Wikford 90 good to hear from ya mate, I can't wait to get back out in the old girl specially with the power from the tdi (no more getting overtaken by milk floats:D:D) once it's done your more than welcome to ave a butchers ain't your 90 a td5 thou?

Yeah its a td5 but still like the idea of a side exit exhaust.

So move abroad and drive on the right (pavement now on opposite side), or fit a twin pipe tail system so you can share the fumes/smoke out....

The only requirement is that is that the fumes don't get trapped under the car, ie broken/holed exhaust......MOTfailure.......
