Hi all,

I now have 2 children and want to put rear seats and windows in my 90 hard top.

I'm based in Chippenham, Wiltshire and have been talking to Tim Fry Land Rover in Cheltenham. Before I go ahead and book it in, I wondered:

1) is there anyone more local to me who could do this that might be cheaper?

2) is this the sort of thing a normal bodywork garage could do?

3) Are some seats better than others?

Thanks in advance.

Andy

hi mate.
i haven't doen this myself, but my next project is to get a hard top and do a csw convert. i guy i work with did the same with his. if you are up for it and have the right tools it isn't a hard job to do. there a lots of sites that supply windows and seats though i would go for oem stuff (it isn't that expensive if you shop round)

I put a pair of Massaii sliding windows in my 110 hardtop, it took around hour and a half to do the first side, once we did the first one it took around forty mins to do the second side, once we knew what we were doing.
The main thing is plenty of masking tape measure, measure measure, before you cut, the frame hides any wonky jig saw cutting.
By doing it yourself you can really be incharge of the belt and braces sealing and fixing of it for the future.
I think the windows are fab too

As previous post it's only an hour a side to do. However this does not count the three weeks plucking up courage to drill the first hole:D:D

Ha ha yes, drilling that first hole for the jig saw blade did take a while and a lot of ''here goes then''

All these are easy DIY jobs. Just make sure the seats an belts are bolted in with decent load baring washers or better plates. In a crash ( god forbid ) the rear seats will easily pull through the skin if not bolted properly
