Evening all

I have an 11 month old 2.2 puma powered 110, it went in for its first service at ~14k with minor unrelated issues, from around 19k the oil consumption has increased dramatically from virtually none to 1 litre every 200 miles or so!!!

I always park in the same place and there is no sign of any 'deposits' on the drive, the water level has gone down a bit but is still the bright pink antifreeze colour with no sign of froth or oil at all... I have not noticed any smoking from the exhaust.

It is going back in for it's second service in a couple of weeks (current mileage ~23k) and I suspect I will get a lot of blank looks as the computer won't tell them the answer!

The vehicle is primarily a road vehicle doing a mix of town driving and probably 80% dual carriageway / motorway so lots of sitting at 69.5mph at 2500rpm or thereabouts.

Has anyone had any similar experiences? What was the outcome?

I have my own thoughts but would appreciate the thoughts / experiences of others!

Thanks, Tim.

From what you have said (no leaks, no oil in coolant) I would suspect an oil leak inside the turbo. Pull a hose off the outlet side and see if there is any sign of oil there. Whatever it is you should be covered under the warranty?

My 1989 2.5 NA 110 uses around 100 cc per 1000 miles, so I think that you might have a problem!
Get them to sort it out as it is their responsibility!!

Do you know what type of oil was used when it was serviced. What type of oil are you topping up with? Hopefully synthetic as mineral will wreck the engine.

Any smoke from the exhaust? I've heard cases of turbo failure on the Puma.
lf it's losing that much oil it has to be going somewhere.
You say the coolant level had dropped. Has it dropped and stabilized, or are you topping it up and it drops again?

my puma did the same thing as yours but mine did it after roughly 100k, i put thicker oil in it and it stopped,
i brought my puma 2nd hand so there was no warranty on it
