i have had many problems trying to replace the ujs on my front prop of my 200 tdi today. have spent about 6 hours in all then gave up after i ripped the vice out of the bench in my garage. feel a bit of a mug to be honest as i have done ujs before and it didnt seem a to hard job.

i have come to the conclusion i would rather spend some money on a new prop and bolt it strait on than waste and more of my time. plus i had a bit of a girly strop at threw it across the workshop so it might me broken/have bits missing now any way.

my question is do i really need a wide angle prop as i have a 2inch lift. advice on good makes/ place to buy. ones to aviod i will be greatful for. i dont really want to break the bank, but i am aware a slightly more expensive one is cheaper than 2 cheap ones in the long run. cheers

i had the same problem at the start of the week, i got a used prop for £20 no play in ujs

no you do not need a wide angle props for a 2inch lift.

just had a look at the prop and i think i may have over tightened the vice and bent the bit at the end where the uj cup sits this it probly why i cant push it in enough to get the circlip in. i have this problem on both ends. cheers for the offer "the mad had man" but its probly not worth trying to bend it back. plus there is a slight chunk missing where i couldnt get the old cups out and went to town with the angle grinder. i guess this may un balance the prop any way.
