Prop alignment

Not exactly straight. I don't think the position of the diffs would allow it.
But...
The VCU support bearings must be alligned exactly 90 degrees to the centre line of the VCU.

The VCU is offset to clear the exhaust so if you look along the whole propshaft assembly it appears curved.

mmm...
It looked to me that the front prop was aligned with the VCU and then the rear prop goes off centre to the final drive.
I would have thought that it not being completely straight would put strain on the bearings, mounts. when in four wheel drive. Am i correct?

Don't worry about it there's no sideways adjustment, the mounting studs are fixed. As long as the actual bearing supports are as Howard explained it's OK.
The Hardy Spicer joints are there to allow for angles in the propshaft.

But he's jealous of Freelander owners, so make silly comments at every opportunity.
