Hi all just cleaned the inlet manifold on my freelander 1 td4 2.0 and feels like lost power on the low engine revs don't feel boost till later on can't think where I could have gone wrong. Starts and idles fine just feels like lost power on low range of revs don't pick up boost till about 2.5k any ideas

Double check that you haven't knocked a sensor connector out. Check that the MAF is still plugged in properly? Turbo hoses all tight?

Turbo hoses all tight all sensors are in fine also just had RAC out he put machine on car and out with boost pressure sensor nothing else just that

Update runs better much better with maf sensor unplugged but big clouds of black smoke lol so shall I say maf sensor needs changing

hi all having issues with a 2001 td4 freelander 2.0 feels like I've lost power until turbo kicks in like car is holdin back don't get boost till about 2k rpm ish and then car is fine driving once up to speed any help would be spot on I can add I removed the maf sensor and car runs fine just with lots of black smoke lol any ideas ? Think I should try cleaning maf sensor or what else could be the problem

When you cleaned the manifold/EGR, did you remove the map sensor on the side of the manifold before cleaning ? at our local meet the weekend 12th-13th we changed two manifolds and EGR's for clean ones, and cleaned the map sensor which as to be remove before any cleaning of the manifold takes place, the map sensor is then cleaned with a quick spray of carb cleaner and a rag, make sure all intercooler pipes are tight and not split anywhere.

To clean the MAF sensor only use electric switch cleaner the stuff they use to clean PC boards as this will not leave a residue on the fine wire of the MAF (Isopropyl Alcohol)

Yes but I never cleaned the map sensor tbh should I take the manifold back off and clean the map sensor and also clean the maf sensor with that spray u suggested hope it cures problem cars driving ok just feels sluggish before turbo kicks in which is also kicking in late :/

If you never cleaned the map sensor but cleaned the inlet manifold you've probably covered the map sensor with crap - well worth taking it off and give it a good clean

Shall do is it ok to clean map and maf with brake cleaner just watched a YouTube video lol and used brake cleaner ? I've got some in garage if not will go get the other stuff

The map sensor can just be wiped of, I should think that brake cleaner would do the job - I've never cleaned a maf sensor....just replaced mine, but there is some posts on here that explain what to use

Hey cheers for replying just cleaned the map sensor it was covered in the black crap what's in the inlet so wiped it off and cleared the hole what's on the sensor seems to have giving a improvement going to clean the maf sensor and give car a service as not been done since I have owned the car

Another thing I've noticed the boost pipes seem to be getting black dirt on the outsides of them don't know if it's oil or out and can't see splits or anything but they have got few notches on them where been rubbing against engine if they had a pin hole or hear line split in the what I can't seem to see would that cause boost and performance issues even if was a very minimal split of hole I know u may say yes but would it be noticeable this also may be my problem ?

Any holes or splits don't matter how small would make a difference, check the pipe on the left of the rad right on the corner, it's a well known place to leak
