Hi all.

Have been having a good look around on the forum and it seems a good place so thought I'd introduce myself in preperation for plenty of SFQs.

In the next couple of weeks, depending on when I find the right one, I'm hoping to trade in the money-pit (Renault Megane) in favour of something a bit more reliable, ie a Disco:doh: ;) The wife has has given me her blessing, and anyone who is married knows that these oppertunities come few and far between so need to be grabbed when they can.

I'm no stranger to Landys, I had company Defenders for 12 years or so (and got through enough of the Land Rover parts catalogue) to know what I'm in for. However, I love the whole driving experience; the position, the basic controls, and most importantly the high-up-overview and road ownership you get, and then there's the whole off-road capability. Quite simply my head is telling me one thing but my heart is shouting LAND ROVER!!! I miss them and now its time to return.

Looking at a Disco 1 300 TDI purely for the ease of work really; I would prefer the TD5 but I've lost trust in the motor and the whole plastic dowel issue which hit me more than once. Besides that Disco 1 parts seem to be more common and cheaper. I like the idea of V8 with LPG conversion but the ridiculously low tank range means I'll be at the pumps every other day so maybe not.

Currently using the father-in-laws Disco 1 TDI with 2in lift, BFG Mud-Terrains, etc. but thats going back to him this afternoon so I'd better get a shimmy on and source my own. Then again with 3 Discos in the family at least I'll have someone who can give a potential buy a good look over.

Anyway, thats enough waffle from me, I'm off to find all my lost tools in the garage, something tells me I'm going to need them ;)

Cheers.
