Power steering pump

I thnk my power steering pump has shat itself,I've noticed my steering has been a bit heavy and now the pulley is loose and has been putting pressure on the belt and it sounds like there is a bearing rattling around it in.

I've seen a brand new on on ebay for £55 delivered (wolf brand I think) or is it best to get a second hand unit?

Will all the 300tdi pumps fit?

Yep, all 300Tdi PAS pumps are the same, part number ANR2157. Same part used in 300Tdi versions of RRC, Disco 1 and Defender.

get a cheap unit, if(hopefully not) it fails you can still drive anyway

And steer if you have muscular arms

The loose bearing sound has stopped now but the pilley can still be pulled out a few cm which is causing the belt to squeal.

The belt will snap as the pulley moves out, mine did!!

£55 new pump and 3 years 30,000 miles later still ok

Bit of guidance please.
My Disco2 Td5 2002 steering is very,very heavy at low speed.
Once rolling steering is extremely light.
Does this point to a new pump?
No leaks etc.
