hello all

Onto my next problem! :p

The power steering seems to have stopped working.

I have checked the forums and sprayed the steering UJs with wd40 which I felt made it mildly better.

I noticed the tyre pressures were low so pumped up to 35psi

I can see in the res the level is good and there is a bit of flow back from the pump.

I have worked the steering side to side and it’s as if the power steering isn’t working.

I want to know if there is a way of pin pointing the faulty part with out buying new pump or steering box or weather it’s my column ujs that are just tight.

Thanks in advance

Have you bled the system? There should be a bleed nipple on the top of the steering box. Crack it, then with the engine running turn the wheels fully from lock to lock a few times. Top up the res and tighten the nipple.

I bled the system but was under the impression the bleed nipple doesn’t need to be cracked following ways others have bled?

It’s there for a reason. Try it.

Probably your pump is gone though. Remove the belt and see what it feels like when rotating the PAS Pump by hand. Should feel smooth and no play in the pulley

It won't be a bleeding issue, they don't all of a sudden need bleeding, check belt then pump, that's really all it can be unless you can visually see a leak, it won't be the UK's either.
