Po299 code

Firstly, welcome to the forum.
Secondly it helps enormously if you tell us what model and year we are talking about,
Thirdly there is an "introduce yourself" section of the forum, which it would be good if you used

(and lastly the odd "please" or "thank you" doesn't go amiss!)

According to the OPs profile its an 2016 land rover discovery sport. So over to you. 🤔
Such is obvious from his profile, but he may possibly be talking about one belonging to someone else.
And in any case, I don't care about such modern cr@p so he can hope someone else does!

Hi mr discool, you have all my respect... though in your opinion it's a nice thing that those who want to help have to search in the profiles to see what's about when the OP is rude(or stupid) enough to not be specific beside the fact that he seems to not know at least to say "Hi"?... my answer to the OP about that Po299 code(misspelled as well) is " f00k off and learn to behave like a civilised person" (while maybe i'm not  :vb-redface:)

OMG, now we have to guess what engine it has: 2.0 diesel, 2.0 petrol, 2.2 diesel or 3.0 diesel ?

The 2016MY disco sport was a 2.0 diesel.

It aways handy to have a bit of experience on the product in question if you intend to help.

I was looking at part exchange my car back then for the disco 5 but they only had only one in the showroom, so offered me a disco sport, but as it wasn't petrol, I just took a free weekend test drive, and then went in to the Jag dealer’s next door to do a trade successfully.

I always want to help even though i can be rude from time to time(and that's because i make efforts to find relevant info to help so i expect from those who need help to provide at least the necessary data for that). If i dont have experience with a particular modell(though i have some with LRs in general) i check the WSM for the issue in discussion. Seems that you just want to correct me, below you'll see snapshots from Topix(where i pay for) with the type of engines fitted to the RHD 2016 Discovery Sport so if i knew what engine it has i could have checked the causes and remedies for that specific engine's fault code and reply(despite of my first "agression") cos there is a different diagnosis or repairs section for each engine which must be selected from the list... and BTW i have a friend with a 3.0 diesel Disco Sport and AFAiK the 2.2 diesels(strangely named by LR also Td4 like the older freelander BMW engines) are the most common in use ... correct me now if i'm wrong

Am I looking to replace the boost pressure solenoid? If so where is it located on the engine?
Normally on an engine with VVT, boost pressure is controlled by the turbo vane actuator.
A P0299 code could be something simple like a split boost hose, or more complicated like a sticking vane assembly.
