Good afternoon,
Sorry for posting a new thread but I'm not sure what I'm looking for so unable to look in the archives!
The Freelander has the engine management light on. It's very 'bumpy' when it's in neutral just ticking over, and it struggles to pick up speed when driving. The EM light flicks on and off- it's happened twice over the weekend where it'll be on for half an hour then it'll go off and drive fine, so I'm thinking something electrical?
I read on an old thread that it could be the fuel rail pressure sensor, so I tried to disconnect it (presumably the green plug underneath/ behind the intercooler hose/ EGR valve) but I was doing it last night in failing light and my finger has caught a different (smaller) plug, and pulled it out. I can't, for the love of God, see where this plug has come from. The car will not start without it being plugged in- it'll try to start but won't get anywhere.
Could anyone advise me what it is, and where it plugs into? Then I can start tackling the actual problem with the car!!

Thank you!

Hi Jon,

That loose plug has identical wiring to the green fuel pressure sensor which is plugged in. Are you sure some PO hasn't fitted a replacement harness and left the old one in place? In this case the loose plug has nowhere to go.

I would also be concenned about the green plug's wires rubbing on that lifting eye in the picture.

Thank you for the reply.

This does make sense- there's nowhere for it to go (although it's a VERY awkward place to see!) but I'm certain something unplugged! Say if the fuel pressure gauge is plugged in at 9 o'clock, then it unplugged from 12 o'clock.
Also, the car started a ticked over (albeit not healthily) prior to this cable being unplugged, but there was nothing afterwards.. It was trying, but not turning over.
Is there anything else electrical around there? As you may be able to tell, I'm an enthusiast with not much technical experience!!

Thank you,

Thank you,

My wife has the FL at the moment so I can't have a look for you, but have a look here:

This might be the plug you're looking for. If I were you I'd take off the intake plenum. This is not hard - just undo three jubilee clips (the 'knitted' one, the one below it, and the one into the EGR), two screws and pull it out of the way. This should give you enough room to find the connectors and plug back in.
Cheers

That's the one in looking for- and a very clear photo too! Much clearer than I could get!
I don't get what they're saying though- should it be plugged in or is it obsolete? Maybe it was just jammed in somewhere and I pulled it from where it was jammed.
The green plug is plugged in as in their photo. I'll do what you suggested when I get home and (hopefully) will be able to start with repairs!
Thank you
Jon

It was a duplicate! (I think)
Looks to be exactly the same as the green one.
Thank you for your help- now to actually repair the thing!
