I just purchased a 2004 land rover discovery from a neighbor for a very cheap price. After looking the vehicle over I decided I wanted to fix it. A year ago, it was parked because the fuel pump went out and the owner got a new car. Well, the owner never had a remote for the alarm. He said that he just frantically jiggled the keys to get the alarm to go off. But, I am noticing that I can not use a universal one. And, taking it to a dealership is not on my budget. Can anyone tell me the cheapest way to do this, whether it be bypassing the alarm system & how, buying a new alarm system and installing it myself if possible, or any other suggestion anyone may have.

:welcome2:

1. Introduce yourself - surprisingly enough in the intro section and learn how to post in the correct section, you have posted in the Life on Mars / Ashes to Ashes section.

2. Why not buy new remote control - had you introduced yourself with your rough location someone on here may be close to you with the correct box of tricks and could have programmed a new/old remote control for your vehicle.

3. Sell the Discovery - If you cant afford to fix it, forget ownership especially of a 2004 TD5, coz you will need to spend to keep it alive.

4. If its been sitting for a year and not moved have you checked it over/serviced it or decided to take the chance.
