places in devon/cornwall/dartmoor

hi everyone.

do you know of any good places around devon cornwall? i live on the edge of dartmoor which is fun but i do not want to get chased by the dartmoor ranger [again] lol. i would like to know of any legal places to go off roading. and too hard. our disco is a road car and i need to keep her on the road Monday morning and i do not want to do any major expeditions [yet]
also anybody fancy meeting up to do said off roading in my area that would be cool thanks guys. neil

I would not encourage people to start posting links to lanes etc on here, this has been discussed many times and it is a sure fire way to get those lanes closed/blocked.

Also the woodland that you have mentioned is of course private and illegal to drive, even if it was owned by the forestry commission, you are still not permitted to drive through them!!

There are plenty of legal lanes in your area, try meeting up with some others from this forum or even join the East Devon 4x4 club.

I didn't know that. Why would they get blocked/closed if that's what they're for in the first place?

Because they will become over run and abused and TRO'd by the council or blocked by disgruntled farmers/land owners.

Oh right, so that explains the huge random mound of grit/mud I saw as I approached an exit for a green lane. I had to go over it because it would have been difficult to reverse back up the lane without taking the risk of burning my clutch out. I only just managed to get over it without hitting my roof against a tree!
