Petrol in diesel

Juiceyv8--Thanks for your response -about 30L then filled tank full with diesel

how big is the tank??

keep filling it up(with DIESEL)to dilute the mix.......newer injection pumps and injectors cant stand as much as the old style.

I'd give RAC/AA a call, member or not they can come to you and drain it properly for a fee.
Unless you have the correct kit you won't be able to do it yourself.
DO NOT START THE ENGINE!

The high pressure pump requires the diesel to lubricate it, petrol will wash any lubrication away and WILL cause major damage to the pump.

The old rotary pumps could/would run with fuel mix without the chance of further damage, common rail systems will not!

I eventually admitted defeat and had it drained etc.by a local garage,I don't know how they did it but they are adament that they will not do another.
Cost £200 ( I don,t think that covered the time they spent on it ) plus a full tank of fuel,an expensive loss of concentration, however all seems OK now.
I;ve had diesel Discos.for the passed 14 years and do a stupid trick like this !!
Thanks to all for your response.

Ive had a couple of cars in recently with petrol in the doosle, apparently a local sainsburies have changed all there hoses to yellow  and yellow used to be for city doosle

Hasn't the d4 got an electric lift pump in the fuel tank??

Couldnt you stick a gallon of oil in for lubeing the pump, i dont know am just asking ?
Apparently not the skoda superb i had in had 19ltrs of petrol in a full tank (which i think is 70ltrs) and it wouldn't run for more than about 3 mins, i believe its a temp issue shuts the pump down, took about 45mins before it would start again.
