Hi just joined and already need help with my P38 2.5 diesel range rover, had a problem while visiting my brother, overnight my alarm went off for no reason when I tried to start it next day it wouldn't start, a mate of my brother put the problem down to the fuel pump in the tank, fitted new pump and now I cannot get fuel to pump to the filter, I can hear the pump start up when the ignition is switched on for a short while. Tried removing the pump to check for blockages but nothing found, am I missing something after fitting new pump? thanks for any help...Dave:(

Take fuel filter off, put empty jar or similar under it and turn on ign. This should show if/not the pump is ok. If fuel is reaching filter (lots with good flow) then look further into system. Try cracking off injector pipes to see if fuel reaching there. (only use correct tools so as not to damage nuts). Depending what you find determines next step.

Thanks for the help, I don't seem to have fuel comming out of the pump, any idea how long it should take fuel to prime a new pump and get to the filter, I crank it over but I flatten the battery before any fuel gets into the system.

Sounds like a problem with your pump or the plumbing to it then. Dunno if you did a "by the book job", or cut a hole in the floor, but sounds like the pump will have to come out for checking. Dunno if anyone else has any ideas before you go to that effort tho??

Remove the fuel pump relay and jumper the pins that operate the pump to make it run continuously. Sorry, don't know which pins, I would have to look it up in RAVE.

Live to pin 5 the one that is the one opposed in direction to the three others.

can also be powered inside drivers door . did you check inertia switch also check connectors inside drivers door as they have a habit or getting wet and could give trouble to electrics to which they are supplying power to

Just to complete this just in case any one else has similar problems, it turned out to be a sequence of events, my in tank fuel pump went down which looks like it put a spike into the circuit which meant when I turned the engine off it put the imobiliser on and it needed the dealer to hook up and re-set the program. So on one hand I had to fit a new pump but with the imobilser on I would have never found it (And with no fault showing on the screen). £114 for 2 minutes to re-set it, and he never wore a Dick Turpin mask. Thanks again for your advice and help.
