P38 DSE overheating (yet another thread)

Just been called down to the garage, they have pulled the head off (to exchange for a remanufactured one) they are really concerned that the head looks immaculate.

I explained they are often "hairline" and they understood but would have expected some sign - water staining, etc - but nothing.

I have told them to fit the remanufactured head but I feel gutted.

Anyone else had the head look fine but the replacement sorted it?

I guess I am looking for reassurance before I go get the whisky out....

I suppose you have changed the RAD for a good one with the centre baffle. I bought a P38 dog for spares that allegedly had a cracked head after the owner had forked out for a water pump, thermostat and viscous replacement etc which failed to cure the overheating. It was the rad, the centre baffle had failed.
