Hi all,

Hopefully some one out there can answer this one.

I am looking into getting a replacement Blipper for my P38. as the one I have is dicking about and my second key is in-op.

After having a long chat with land rover main agent they want the chassis number of my rangie in order to supply me with a new one at 108 of the queens pounds. But when I looked at EPC there only seams to be 1 part number listed for the remote.

I have been offered a new one for a third of the cost of L/R and my question is are they vehicle specific or can I get one and program it to the care using Autologic.?

I have had a read through Rave and I understand the rolling code function on how they work. Am I right in saying the chassis number dictates the range of the rolling codes?

or are all fobs the same until the first time they are used and sinked to the car.

can the fobs be reset in anyway?

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Bryan

They are specific to the car. You have to buy a new one. Dont even attempt to buy a cheap one or second hand one. Waste of money. They will not work.

You need to buy an Official LR fob from your local LR dealer. It takes 5-7 working days as they are ordered from LR/BMW in Germany and you will require two forms of ID and the cars registration document which shows the RR's chassis number and then the fob is ordered directly for your car only.

It costs £115 Inc VAT.

Its essential that both your fobs work 100% as without both working your car is 2 ton paper weight and you wont be going anywhere without them.

DO NOT SKIMP ON PRICE! Others that claim to create new fob's from your old handsets do so by using
Radio Data Recorder's and to be honest I dont like the idea of creating a new handset in that manner as by doing so you have allowed someone else access to your cars security system as they also want your chassis number and access to your cars regisstration document. To me that sounds crazy from a security point of view.

Definately get a new one from the dealers, i paid the same price it isn`t bad when you consider that a replacement for a nissan x-trail i had was £325.00.

thanks all. not worried about price as I get a 25% discount of l/r prices.

so to sum it up. everyone who is thinking of buying the a second hand blipper on ebay is wasting there money.

Thanks all you have pretty much confirmed my suspicions

I will order one on Monday.

well when you spend on 25-30k a year on parts with them. they treat you a little different to jo public.

I don't understand your original question if you are spending that kind of money and have that kind of relationship with a Land Rover Agent.
