Hi, I'm new hear but hope some one can help, I have a P38 2.5TD Auto 2001.
I have had it a year now & has bin grate but the other day I got perswaided to try her of road, She was grate & even on road tyers serprised me & my mate in his 90 but at the end i went threw some deep water & found that the BECM board is under the drivers seat & duss not like getting wet. The electrics went mad & you name it it was on, the lights ternd on, wipers, Alarm, horn, even the water jets stayed on till it run out of water.
Even the back R/H window went down witch serprised me as I have got the senter swiches & bord for the windows on order as they stopped working a couple of weeks ago.

Any way I got it back & removed the BECM, removed the top cover & blow it out & tride to dry it as much as possible, stuck it back in & had to disconect the water jets & some of the lights, left running for 8 hours with heaters on full & now the only faults I have are: Gear box fault on the message senter, witch i dont no if its the water ore the fact that I had to tow it home, I had it in N & never exseeded 25mph, the other faults are: the gear you have selected duss not come up on the message senter no more, the sport/manel buton no longer works & when you select revers ore the bolbs in the RH head light come on.

Has any one got any idears befor i look into chainging the BECM?

I got new Auto gear box filter & seal on order & was going to try chainging the oil incase on the of chants some water has got in side as it was under water for a good 10 mins.
I also do not have a dip stick for the gear box so gessing its a level bung, ther are 2 on opisit sides just infront of the gear box sump just above it, are thease the level bungs as they seem a little low down the gear box.

Hope some one can help.
Thanks
Mat

Did you remember to put a 5 amp or greater fuse in fuse position 11 in the right hand seat fuse box ?
This is the only way to get the transfer box in neutral allowing you to tow without shafting the transmission

Hi Kenny,
I Did not no about putting a fuse in before towing, Hope this has not dun any think to the transmission, will have to look into it. Thanks
Going to try get some one with a computer to come & connect to it today, see if any of the faults can be reset ore some thing, ore just send me in the right direction

I can always check your becm for you if you have problems. The Becm has no fault memory as such. You can only check the key radio code and the door outstations. There are lots of actuator settings, for instance you can drive the windows up and down, lock and unlock the central locking. Ect.
Dont spend too much on diagnostics. Most people that get in touch have paid £60 to be told I think it’s the becm.
Give me a shout if you get stuck. A complete test is only £48

Thanks Mtechuk, I may just take you up on that, I see your local. I have manidged to get my windows & mirrors back working but still have 3 maybe 4 faults. going to try changing the transmission oil & filter to day, if it dos not help it will do her good & i will feel happy knowing there's no water in it tho i can't see that any has got in but better safe than sorry

Hi, Now i have changed the gear box & transfer box oil & took it for a drive, dos feel nice to be back on the road tho I still have a couple of problems, I no my becm is possibly faulty but would this cause me to be stuck in one gear? as my gear no longer comes up on the display on the dash its hard to tell but it feels like i'm stuck in 3rd gear, I have tride selecting them manuely but it seems to be the same gear ore the time.

Still got gear box fault on the message center & one R/H head light comes on in revers. But can my Becm cause me to be stuck in the same gear?

The becm is very sensitive to static electricity-s0 imagine what water will do!! May have blown a mosfet or two. Get it to Mtech-£50 for a check is far cheaper than shelling straight out for a new one at £800
