I tried to scribe around the section as much as I could before I removed it. But like you said, it must be very sensitive to movement.

I dont suppose you know which way I would need to tap it in order to advance the fuelling?

Or would I be best to try and find someone who can run live data on it while its being adjusted?

Very sensitive its hit and miss I'm afraid you can't have live data unless its running can you .
That or pump of and get it calibrated on a injection specialist machine .

Yes thats true, well I guess ive got two choices then....

Tinker with it myself or strip it down and send the pump away for calbration :(

Moving the centre section back and forth increases or decreases the fuel it does not advance or retard it. You need to slacken slightly and tap back and forth until you get a rock steady 750 RPM idle with the engine warm. Then nip it up.

I will definitely be doing this when I get the chance to. On a cold start....when I can finally get the thing to fire up, it idles at 800rpm. I take it from cold it should be revving at around 1000rpm?

Around 1100 RPM from cold. You have the centre section in the wrong place. That is your problem. You are not getting enough fuel for startup.

I will definitely have a go at adjusting the position of this very soon. Hopefully I will perfect its positioning. Hopefully it should be possible to do with the inlet manifold still in position?

Manifold off is the only way to do that. Unless you can paper your hallway through the letter box.
