Hey all,

Well one of my headlights died on holiday so today I popped into Euro's and picked up a pair of H7 Osram Nightbreaker bulbs. I have to say the difference is massive, driving back from Cov tonight was so easy with the better visibility. So yeh, highly reccomended :). Here's some before and after pics:

Yup, these new improved 'plus' ones are the best yet. :D

I've only got them for low beam so when I switch to main beam there is not a lot extra coming from the old-style Philips NightGuides. :(

I'll need to get another pair for high beam too.

They tried to talk me into buying the Xenon conversion kit - I was sorely tempted! Bit pricey at £120 for the kit though!

So is it the same bulb for full beam then? Might get another pair....

To be honest after seeing how good these are I don't really think Xenon will be anything more than a talking point for me. Not when I could spend the same amount of nice tyres and such. But I will probably pick up another pair for my full beams too :).

Do you not need to fit headlight washers and auto adjusters with xenon lights?

No - they are not compulsory.

It's all down to the exact wording of the MOT.

It says that 'self-levelling and washers may be fitted'.

It does not say 'must be fitted'.

However - if they are fitted - then they must be working correctly.

Generally there is a trend towards the rule that 'It doesn't have to be there, but if it is - then it should work'.

Like number plate lights - designed with one bulb - fine. But if 2 bulbs are in the housing and only one is working - bad news - fail.

Edit: See next post from 'Blue Beasty'.

They would be a talking point with the Mot tester as most of the after market Xenon / HID type lights will now fail the Mot !! My ZS180 has just failed for having Xenon lights!! :( Although they are no better than Night Breakers.

Well there you go :). Glad I didn't give in to temptation!

What was the reason for the failure ? Too bright/too higher wattage ?

Hey...Most Xenon bulbs have a blue tint or other discolour-ment....I had to change my xenon bulbs for Osram Silverstar which later was improved with Osram Night Breaker on my last MOT...You do need to have a white light

They're not HID! Xenon gas filled bulbs are just posh bulbs really so not an issue! It's retro fitted HIDs that's the issue
