Tax exemption is before 1st Jan '72, Series 3 came into production mid '71 so the very 1st Series 3's are exempt which suggests you're looking at a Series 3 reg between 72 to 84

As an aside.......Did the tax exemption date change in the budget?

You still have to get a tax disc even if its exempt (you get a 'historic' disc), if she doesn't know what it is then she may think its normal tax when it may still be tax exempt...

Tax exemption used to be vehicles built on or before 1st January 1973. With the latest budget, tax exemption has changed, and it is now for vehicles built on or before 1st January 1974.

You got a bargain there. If it's t&t then I can't foresee anything major wrong with it. If you don't like it put it on flebay

Depends who gave it a ticket last time. There are still some dodgy mot centres out there which will pass death traps.
