Ok without ANY fan?

Hi,I posted a little while ago re: taking the fan off my engine as it's in the way off the rad hose and a cooler hose, having put the 200tdi into my 90 in place of the 2.5TD. Instantsquid and Storm99 both responded and said they both run there's without a fan, my question is do they mean without any fan, electric etc? I only ask as my neighbour who is a mechanic seems to think the engine will overheat when in traffic without any fan on. If anyone could just confirm, either the two guys named above or anyone else running without a fan then it would put my mind at rest. Thanks again for any replies, I wouldn't have attempted the conversion without the help from this forum. Mark

My neighbour, whos a mech too, says the same, run without the fan, all the fan does is splatter muddy water all over the engine bay

I agree, I'm running a 200tdi disco with no cooling fan. If the engine, radiator and cooling system are in good order the engine is over cooled in normal use.

have to agree with the others, mine actually has got the fan fitted but even when the weather was hot and towing heavy trailers the temp hardly rises at all, cant see why it wouldnt run without.

The Tdi doesn't really need a fan at all, especially in this weather. However with mine I have taken the liberty of fitting an electric fan on the front of the rad, as a 'just-in-case' item. However, I've never had to use it.

Been out today with no fan and all seems fine, temp gauge up to middle and no more. Do like the idea of a fan I could manually switch on in summer if needed though so by the summer will probably source a fan of a fiesta or similar and put in front of rad with a switch in the dashboard. Cheers for all the help Mark
