I have , in total had 4 different discovery's over the years mainly as a daily as it was never far to work and also as a tow car for the caravan, anyway I was thinking of getting myself a toy.
SO not knowing an awful lot about the green lane off road scene I am after something to use as a toy on a weekend and perhaps go away for the weekend with my lad.
so budget is £3k tops I appreciate this might not buy me much but its all I am allowed:rolleyes:
right what do you recommend and if you can post the links to the particular cars you find, I am looking but to be honest you end up blind as you look through the choice available.
I live near peterborough but will travel a reasonable distance for the right one
cheers
for any help

fcuk me you want us to do the searching for ya and then post you the links on suitable vehicles..

why dont you search find the suitable vehicles post them on here and we will give you our opinions

yep you got it I have been looking and I can if you would like post you umteen links from ebay and auto trader but I through the floor open , as I know people spend time looking through ads with no intention of buying but just out of interest, plus there will be people on here who know an infinite amount more about the off road side of landrover ownership than I do.
I really don't know which way to go
older disco 200 or 300
defender 90 or 110
diesel or petrol
lift kit or not
auto or manual
buy stock and start spending or buy already kitted out
if already kitted out , with what?

the list is endless as is the choice

so like I said any help would be appreciated if you don't want to help thats up to you, and I can link all the ones I am currently watching on ebay for instance at the least it would up my post count but I can't see it being of much help to me.

spend 2k on a 300tdi disco (that will get you a pretty decent one) then you've got 1k spare for any toys you want to buy for it.

I'll let you find the motor yourself ;)

Hi It realy depends how serious you wanna go, My motor is a TD5 Disco.
It's my daily drive and I do take it off road, you may want to do more harder stuff than me hen probley a lift kit would be handy,

I don't intend to do some of the really extreme stuff, I'm just gonna put decent set of All terrain tyres on, Steering guard, and diff guards,
am also gonna extend the axel breathers some how, at the last pay & play site there was signs of a little water in the air filter box, so just to be on safe side fit a snorkel for me that will be more than enough

hop this helps
Rob

water in the air filter box!!!!! fcuk me you had a lucky escape there..

forget the ats they probably wont perform any better than yr existing tyres and you will be dissappointed

go straight for some mts
Yeah it was lucky the amount of water wasn't really much as the air filter elemant had soaked it up so I just replaced filter and cleaned the inside of the filter box, and stayed out of water till the snokel is on there has been no issue with the Engine, decided on snokel after a mate went through some water in a Grand Cherokee and ended up drowning the engine been about a grand to get fixed..

Thanks for the tip on the Tyres
