I've done a search but not found much of help - lots of TD stuff for some reason.

So, the mystery of what T2 is doing with it's oil has been found. It appears to be chucking it out of the front somewhere. Up norf, so haven't been able to have a proper look.

The oil (it's proper black, not red) is dripping off the front crossmember. It's not pouring out but it's enough to need fixing. I'm guessing oil cooler, pipes or the front crank seal.

TBH, I'm glad it's chucking it out of the front, not out of the exhaust.

As always, your experience is greatly valued.

Cooler pipes: mine leaks in exactly the same place and finds its way to the bottom of the radiator to. If you feel under the fittings going into the oil cooler (with a rag if you want) you should be able to wipe a lot of oil off there. I put a jug under there for half a day and counted 4 drops, probably a lot more under pressure, doesn't bother me too much just yet just makes a mess of the drive.

thanks. I should be able to have a good look this week if the weather improves. I need to get it done as it's going to cost me a fortune in oil :D

I havent ' got round' to doing mine yet as I know it's not just the pipes that will have to be replaced. Likely that the oil pipes and cooler fittings have corroded together so a new oil cooler will be the probable outcome. You might be lucky if you can just manage the pipes.

fair enough. TBH, I look on things like this as the reason I got the car so cheaply. The previous owners probably looked at all these jobs that needed doing, maybe added a bit of mechanical ignorance and thought the car was a write-off.

Thanks. So, I guess I'm looking at about £100 for a cooler and about £50 for pipes?

DT, it's a petrol motor - should have made that clear, apologies.
