Oil cooling...advantages?

Hmm it's funny you use this phrase rather than pressure up or similar don't you think???

as soon as motor turns over attempting to start it is pressurizing unless you have a trashed motor. Warm up is getting to temp before driving. Depending on air temp summer 3-5 minutes winter 10 minutes or so, more critical to a diesel over a petrol, but both are important. The start and drive first time in the day or after work is what kills a engine. But people get in a hurry these days so it is a start and go vroom, vroom, and off we go:pound:

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes! so it's all to do with fluid and material temperatures so if you stick a fooking massive cooler on it with no thermostat then it will never get to temperature and .................................?

know we have gone from a oil cooler for a 200 tdi to a fooking massive oil cooler:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

waxstat's are on carburetors, did a goggle and they confirmed. oil goes into a oil filter and out being pushed/pumped by the oil pump. If there was any kind of a stat there you would have no oil flow???????? What are you talking about?

google a bit harder cheif....... just cos you google "waxstat on carburetors" don't mean thats all they are on. you could even have a similar system on your boiler at home. Its like saying diodes are only used for rectification.

On a turbo Diesel engine the engine oil lubricates the turbo, act as a bearing for the impeller and cools the turbo,

On a turbo Diesel engine an oil cooler is a must have item. Or the oil will get very thin very hot and at worst combust...

not entirely true , i know quite a few run well for years and still are, under normal running sump cools quite effectivily on a landy

up to you , often oil cooler and inter-cooler arent fitted so front of vehicle remains std, and tdi in series isnt anywhere near its limits in exhaust gas temps or cooling system or power for engine size
