offside passenger door wont open from in or out side

Hi I've searched various threads and posts but most seem related to tailgate or front doors. My problem is ironically my door only needed adjusting as it required the adjuster rod turned in a few turns as the door was beginning to take a bit mire effort to open. When I done this the rod snapped. I fitted a scrapped part and worked for two or three open and closes. Then bang. Won't open. Inside or out side

I have taken off the door card from inside at the rear. the adjustment rod seemed stuck up but with huge amounts of brute force and ignorance it won't budge despite feeling 'floppy' door remains shut. Any ideas. Im aware of the spring replacement doofers but obviously can't do this until the door is open and can remove lock assembly.

Ok so I've sorted it, it turns out that washer that dusts behind the mechanism is important, it acts as a spacer . So mine had fallen down the door , I forgot about it and tightened everything up without it , bending the mechanism. This allowed the lever to by-pass the lock and so didn't lift the latch and also helped jam it , d' oh. Hope that made sense. And can help another idiot like me. ;0(
