Well today was absolutely brilliant! :D

Very, very, very muddy and lots of recovering happening. In fact spent more time doing recoveries than actually driving but was great fun. :)

Disco did sustain a minor inconvenience. Managed to bend my track rod as I was winching someone out. One wheel got caught in a rut and pulled it hard right whilst the stayed put.
Fortunately only live 10 mins up the road so left jack and Matt to take the old one off whilst I went to collect a spare. :)

Then back out for more playing in the mud an hour later. :D

The track rod.....

It was a lot worse but sort of managed to straighten it with my winch to get me up to the car park.

And the only other pic I managed to take. Whilst stuck waiting for someone to winch off of. Hopefully have a few more photos later on.

Yep synthetic is the way to go. Gonna get the 13mm stuff from winch-it. Think it's about £200 for hook and 30m of it.

Haha yea. It is nice. What's nicer is having a large selection of spares. (soon to be more when I break another disco I'm looking at buying) Would dread to think what I'd I've done if I was further away!
Still I think I'm gonna carry a spare track rod from now on!

Rob - any winch is fast compared to my Ramsey lol

Im ordering a synthetic too after dragging my steel line around half the day when i was with you, have a serious look at the budget bowrope from funny enough david bowyer, ive spoken to him quite a bit about it he said the only thing that makes his expensive bowrope different is the abrasion resistance however in the year they have been selling it they have not had a single failure, outstanding prices + id trust this much more than other 'budget' synthetic ropes

Id like to add its worth calculating the capacity of your drum as id be surprised if you would get 30m of 13mm on a lowline drum, if you can splice thought you can shorten it to the amount you can fit on the drum + use the extra length as an extension if required

Lol that was slow! :p

Yea really should calculate how much will go on it. So it I'll just buy and see what happens! :p
May go with 11 or 12mm yet. Depends when I come to buy it.

I wouldn't shorten the rope I would simply wrap it around the snorkel and back to front recovery point..
ive got 38m of 12mm plasma on my lowline

cage is nearly done :)

Nice!!

Any of you lot planning on going next weekend? Hoping to get the new alternator fitted this weekend, fingers crossed I make it a bit further this time :D
