Yeah I'm in the process of changing the VC and IRD.....but keep coming up against problems.
Can anyone tell me what the exact size the driveshaft nut is. I reckon it's near 30mm.
Also the bolt size of the 2 bolts securing the suspension strut to the wheel hub. None of my sockets fit and want to be sure I get the right size as not to round off them off. Have already used WD40 as expect these to be done up real tight!!!

Cant recall the exact size of sockets used now but carefull heating of the driveshaft nut with a blowtorch made the difference between removal and standing still. Use a good quality socket and power bar on the driveshaft nut as this is tightened to 400Nm! Best of luck.

No need to undo the driveshaft nuts. But if you want to they're 32mm
21mm for the strut bolts

Take the subframe off (it needs to come off anyway to remove the ird), with that out the way, prise the shaft out of the ird and pull on the now swinging strut, the shaft will come out and hang down.

Hi, is this the case with a 1999 Hippo, just that in the manual it says take off the hub etc, if I can get away without doing this that would be great, thanks for the help, I greatly appreciate it.......hope it don't snow this weekend!!!

i did mine yesterday

i removed the driveshaft by using a breaker bar standing on it. or have used a length of scaffolding bar in the past.

i dropped the cross member but left it attached to the hub by the ball joint as they wouldn't pop out.

in all took me most of the day but its in now.

just a bit of advice get it as high as you can as working on your back trying to lift the ird is a real s**t.

good luck
