Saved enough for my once yearly purchase for my darling landie. Question is I can afford one air diff locker should it be put on the front or rear axle. read posts but no definitive answers. Cheers:)

ARBs r ****! Seen too many destroyed at comps.

I run a detroit cannot be disables but fit and forget.

I'd have Kams But and a big But i'd run ashcroft shafts not Kam shafts as they did have a bad rep and i believe the newer ones have a built in weak/break point. Racing then why do you want the hassel and weight of an airline, tank, compressor first landing over a a treestump, see what i did there? you'll rip off the airline carry lots of inline connectors. Whereas you can run silicone wire that will be flexible and tucked out of the way can be repaired easily ect. Only issue with Kams is the plastic diff cover.metal all the way!

we have ARB's on ares an have never had a problem ,there is no point just getting a locker you need shafts an cv's from ashcroft or you are just passing the stress on from the locker to the shafts then if you change them the stress is on the cv's ect,ect like i always say you get wot you pay for cheep=**** ive never had a air lines come off or catch, an buy a proper compressor ARB one, not a DIY/rig-it up yourself **** (if you decide to go for them that is)

Unbelievable is it landies or life that just bites you in arse:(:(:(:(:(

Just been RAC'd home clutch gone bugger. Looks like arb locker gone for another year. Begginning to think should spend money on women:rolleyes:

they must have the airlines in the wrong place then, mine are inputed on the top of the diff casing, why arnt axle breathers ripped off evertime in comp?there more vulnerable than the diff hose

my compressor weighs about the same as a bag of sugar so i wouldnt call that heavy.

personally i think detroits are w@nk and thats cos i have arbs
the same reason you think arbs are w@ank cos you have detroits

its a personal thing..

Lol

Only reason behind my thinking ARB's are not all that the hype make them out to be is because.........

I have seen personally at least 5 failures at local comps over the last 3 years actually broken internal parts I have seen probably 5 or so issues like compressors not firing ripped of hoses or electrical faults etc on the same thing. Now I know some peoples idea of routing wires and mounting compressors may differ from others and may have been a contributing factor but in my mind its too many. I have seen only 1 Detroit failure over 5 years and heared of another on here so 2. The one that I actually saw fail was put down to being a production or batch problem which was apparently enough to stop ashcroft from offering them for sale for a period (maybe still now I'm uncertain).

That is the reason I believe they are ****! and not becauseI don't have. Hell I'd almost be tempted to get one the design looks great. But I suspect if I go for another one I'll be phoning Mcnamera.

Problem with Kam is they put alot of strain through the internal gears to "lock" them its a hell of alot but seems to work very well.
