Hi Experts,

New to the forum but have been browsing as a guest for sometime. I have a starting problem on my 04 Freelander TD4. The 1st occasion the AA got the car going on easy start to get me home and the diagnosis they carried out pointed to a faulty injector. I tried the leak back test which seemed fine but then the car would not even start on easy start. I decided to get the injectors properly refurbished as the car has covered 120K. The test results confirmed one of the injectors was faulty and the others were within spec. I had all four refurbished anyway, the injectors were replaced and the engine will still not fire even with easy start. It will run for a few seconds until the easy start is exhausted. I had a spare cam shaft sensor so have replaced that and have also replaced the fuel filter under the wheel arch as a precaution but still no joy! I ran a tube from the out side of the filter into a bucket and turned on the ignition and fuel is flowing from the LP pump. My question is could the LP pump be weak and not providing enough pressure for the HP pump in the engine bay? The LP pump was replaced a year ago when the original died but it's not an original so now wonder if this could be my problem. I have a spare crankcase sensor but understand these rarely fail and wouldn't cause starting problems so it looks like fuel? I have loosened the fuel lines on the injectors and fuel is leaking out when cranking. The fuel pressure sensor connectors are clean as is the loom but could a faulty sensor cause starting issues? I have scanned the car with a generic reader but I'm guessing this will miss LR specific codes. Any suggestions I'm running out of ideas now.

I have a chip box with pierburg MAF but have gone back to standard for testing and have tried disconnecting the MAF aswell. I have also by-passed the EGR and replaced the PCV filter.

Many Thanks,

John.
