Disco 2 Noisy replacement ACE pipes from Britpart

I have spent a lot of money on my D2 over the past month or two.
As we had the chassis dropped we replaced the ACE pipes and rear brake pipes. ACE pipes were badly corroded and ready to give up.
We couldn't get genuine LR pipes so had to get Britpart ones. The ACE unit was carefully cleaned and checked, new seals fitted etc. All went very nicely. Except that now it groans like a whore on crack from the second you start the engine! Squealing groans go up and down with revs when driving, horrible.

I am told there is an attenuator inside the genuine LR ACE pipes, to combat that noise problem. Does anyone know if Britpart ones have that inside? The noise would suggest not, but the pipes do have a similar crimped part which looks like they do. Obviously no way to know without cutting them open.

Need to get rid of this God awful noise but not sure which way to turn yet, will drive it around for a few weeks in case it's just an air lock but doesn't look like it so far.

if anyone has had this problem with noise after replacing ACE pipes, and solved it, please let me know! Likewise if anyone has any Britpart contacts (since they refuse to talk to just about anyone, certainly not a paying user of their products, heaven forbid) that would be great too. Wouldn't it be nice if I could just email them as ASK the damn question "do your ACE pipes have attenuators fitted inside?"

Original pipe - was fine til today when i cut it open to have a looksee!!

Got some third hand response from *hitpart, they say no their hoses don't have attenuator fitted. Some comment about "it''s copyrighted by Land Rover". Maybe true. Maybe BS. EIther way, they can have this part back with a sarcastic "thank you for mentioning this before you sold em". Looks like they know what the noise is and know it's a problem with their pipes but just let people buy em anyway, after all they will always refund or replace. Yeah, great, wanna help me drop the effing chassis off again and pay my guy's time for that? Didn't think so.

I'd join D2BC and see if there is any good advice there.

I heard of that, quite neat. So did you have to get your valve block drilled/tapped for hydraulic fittings etc?

Hi, sorry to hear of your problems. I did my rear ACE pipes with BP items last month & have had no problems at all. How did you bleed yours & what fluid did you use? (I used Westway cold climate fluid)
My system was dry as the pipes had been off for about three weeks but I filled the reservoir, started it, topped it up then took it for drive on twisty roads & have gone down a very uneven track a few times (checking the fluid level on every run and topped up when needed & have done about 500 miles since without issue).
I was surprised I didn't get the ACE light on at some point but apart from it's check before start up that's it.
I also noticed crimps in the original pipes that weren't on the replacements & wondered why they were there,now I know.

Thanks Andy. Yes I cut the crimp part out of the old pipes and found the 'attentuator', quite clever really. From what I have heard, Land Rover first fitted ACE systems without them, then got noise/whine complaints and then developed and retrofitted the attenuators to take care of the issue. With your rear ones I don't think it's as much of an issue as the only noisy one on mine is the front high pressure line, and it's that pressure that causes it I think. It's a horrible noise, bit like spigot bearing whine but louder and the vibration comes up through steering wheel and pedals so it's not the sort of thing most people could 'live with', bloody horrible! It does make my D2 more of a headturner though, every shopper in town looks at me from 50 yards away!
