Hi Folks
I'm usually on the Range Rover section trying to keep my old P38 running, but now I'm looking at a TD5 for a friend - and came across something new to me.
She was complaining of a noise that was intermittent, but is now there almost all the time.
After a bit of a listen and a crawl around underneath I find is coming from the ACE unit bolted to the chassis pretty much under the drivers seat.
It seems to be Ok from cold, but starts to whine/hum after a short drive and stays there all the time. I felt the unit to confirm that it was that that was making the noise and it felt quite warm to the touch. This was after only a couple of minutes of driving.
So is the ACE unit 'fubar'? Are they repairable?
I know a new one is over a grand! I have checked the reservoir level and that is fine.
I have done a search but can't seem to find the answer to these questions. So help from those more knowledgeable than I would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
