noise on poor quality road

hello all,ive got a freelander TD4,when im driving on a smooth road theres no rattle,but as soon as i hit a rough road,the suspension form the drivers side sounds proper noisy,i put different wheels on about 2 months ago,wondered if its that,been the garage and the seem to think my drop links are fine,is it worth replacing them,tried everything,thanks

But it would be worth getting under it and trying to pry all the joints with a pinch bar to see if there is any movement.

Also whilst your at it just make sure all your wheel nuts are done up ;)

If it still rattles suspect door hinges about to fail :p :D :D :D

Worn front suspension top mounts can do this. Worth a thought if you cannot trace the knocking to anything else.

Check all the other stuff first as it's all easier to look over.
 
I had a similar issue. For me it was the drop links. Even though they looked fine, I replaced them along with the anti roll bar bushes and since has been absolutely fine. For the sake of £20 or so and half an hour it's probably worth doing anyway.
