Interesting one this - Just bought a TD4 2002. Drove it home in rain, all dry. Air con did not work so went to get it re-charged, all fine no leaks and air con working well. Next run out in the rain both footwells in front were in puddles. Very clean water, checked it without air-con on and all dry.

I learnt 2 things. 1) My 2002 TD4 forces air con on when on demist, even though light on air con not on.

2) The water was coming out of foot vents and ducts. Suspected air con condenser drain blocked. No one would believe this, but trapped in between the condenser plastic case drain outlet and the outlet pipe to under the car was the original piece of punched carpet which should have been removed when the air con unit was fitted. This was a soggy block to the water passing out through the hose onto the ground.

The car has obviously been like this from new.

It may help those of you who get wet feet in the rain - it just may not be rain water !!! Good luck - let me know if any others find this.

The way to remove the block is to unscrew the one fixing in the passenger footwell, pull teh air con black box gently forward and remove trapped piece of carpet. Ensure that the outlet from the air con unit correctly registers into the drain pipe - you will need some silicon spray and a mirror to ensure that it is square.

Any questions please ask. AMAZING !!!!!
