no fuel pump??

hello there, im new to the forum. ive got a freelander 1.8 petrol. i went out to it the other day and it wouldnt start. first i chexked i had a spark them moved on to the fuel. pulled the fuel pipe off and turned it over no fuel so i took the back seat up to get to the pump. pullrf the pipe off from the tank still no fuel. checked power to the pump. only got power the to them gauge. so i checked the fuse all ok. can any one shed some light on the matter for me as in stuck thanks phil
