Hi all, I see you get a million of these newbie posts a day so I wont expect many welcomes lol....

My dad and myself have just bought an old series IIA landy as a project. It needs welding on the bulkhead and the chassis and a lot of other restoration ( perhaps even new galvy parts ) however at the price it was a bargain :) Theres a small pic in my avatar but it doesnt really show much, I will try and upload some better ones when I get back to the other house.

Anyhow, we have never worked on a landy before tho I have a decent amount of experience with mechanics, hydraulics and served my time as a spark - and my dad can work a hammer lol but Im sure we will have fun restoring it :)

Anyhow, just to say hi to all and I will be popping in now and again for some help and advice no doupt and hopefully one day be passing it on.

Cheers for the welcomes folks,
I have been reading up today about the series 2 ( and ordered a haynes workshop manual ), shes going to be a massive project I recon, but well worth it in the end :)
I am going to pick her up on sunday 1700 with a transporter and trailer ( she does drive but not legally ) so I will have a better idea of what will be involved :) If anyone has any links to any sIIa info Id be very appreciative, I already got a load of stuff but the more I aquire the better - and I plan to order the haynes restoration manual next week so if you know of any other books that are as good / better let me know :)

i have got a millitary 1958-1969 manual that covers absolutely everything, although its a wee bit rare and i doubt if i would be able to get another one so as to whether you could use it im not sure :/ so what i might do is if you pm me when you need some info on something that isnt covered in any of your info then ill send you the relavent information if you want?

Welcome from fellow jock. My advise is learn before you spend, LR's are great but I spent dosh on the wrong things and missed out on the important bits that can reduce costs longer term. Focus on the key stuff with oils being my big learning point - cost me a transfer box. Good luck

lol @ coal.... no but the signum stands no chance of making it out of the drive in the snow and the bike ( I use the term bike loosly, its a 50cc for traveling macduff to banff daily but she does a nice easy 50-55mph so not too bad :) ) has even less chance lol

I know a few folk in elgin, I used to work in the kill at buckie - grampian pork with a lot of folk fae elgin there :)

Sorry the replies are slow, no internet here other than a GPRS mobile phone signal :(

Heres some pics of the other car/bike :)
( a few new mods since... new splitter on the car being one )
