Newbie questions

Hello Folks. First timer so go gentle please.

Got my first Landy about three months ago and the old girl has just failed it's MOT so need a few bits. Trouble is I'm not really sure exactly which variant I have. It's a 95 Disco 1 V8 but says first registered in 98 - is this normal and what could be the reason? Is there anywhere I can check?

Second question is how can I check which V8 version it is e.g. EFi etc.

Sorry for the dumbsh1t q's but there y'go.

BTW I've done a fair bit of trawling this and other forums so It's not that I can't be arsed.

wots it say on the v5?-for both parts of the question really.
Or stick the reg in a insurance comparison website, it should tell you wot it is.....I say should.....

V5 just says V8i Auto and first reg in Dec 98, but it's on an N plate.

Guy punched in the VIN at the MOT this morning and it came back as a 3 dr model.

just follow the insrtuctions its pretty simple and it will tell you what the dvla think is associated with your liscence plate. If there is any varience you may need to update the dvla or it may invalidate your insurance

DVLA confirms V5(but then you'd think it should in a flat world).
Date of manufacture is 95.
Date first reg is 98.

To be honest I'm not too fussed but intrigued as to why the difference? I can't believe it was sat in a dealer/field for close to 3 yrs.

no probs, is it an import? southern ireland? if not im stumped for more suggestions if not. the insurance quote thing will tell you. just go to the one with the annoying silly fat man singing on the tv type in your reg and it should tell you.

Don't think it's an import(but wouldn't really know how to check thinking about it). same goes for S Ireland

Take a trip to the Main dealer and quiz their dater base you never know it may turn up some info, even better if you got the service record.

Whenever I check for part's or insurance mine always comes up as a 3 door model, as for your registration... have the plates been changed from the originals?

The plates are not original. Back one must have been changed when it was fitted with a ladder(maybe) so original wouldn't fit I suppose.

Big Stu - Top tip. Will do as soon as I can get time. Thanks. Just a thought. I suppose the main dealers are ok with joe bloggs coming in off the street to ask about this stuff?
