Oh and Hi Everyone :)

Inb4haters :D.

Welcome mate, looks like you have a lovely project car there :). I'm just coming to the end of my HGF repair now, and it's been a pretty smooth job to be honest. No real nasty surprises. I love the colour, you'll be reet prood of that when you're finished.

Any questions just ask, also the search funtion will turn up really great answers to most problems :).

Will.

Thanks for the welcome!

Made a bit of progress today, new oil rail, gasket, shim and newly skimmed head and bolts are fitted and all torqued up!

oh and the missus has been working on the interior panel's so they are all shiny and ready for refitting

I will try and do some more before work tomorrow.

any thoughts on the cut wire, its not the handbrake or cig lighter or anything else in the centre console.

Do the seats sense a seatbelt unplugged for a dash light or anything like that?

I have ad a look at the water, the a/c drain is fine the heater matrix appears to be OK, I will keep an eye on it once its running, obvs if its the matrix it will be easier to diagnose with the engine running.

The cut wire looks like the HDC wiring, it should be attached to a switch mounted on the gear stick, they seem to be an inherent problem with F/L's, i have had to resolder mine a few times. if i remember correctly the wire colours are blue and black?

Hope this helps;)

Read my post again, i said it looks like the HDC switch wiring, attaches to the gear stick and operates like a low range gearbox in 1st and reverse..............

Sorry I read it right after I woke up! I will investigate tomorrow. when I start reassembly on the interior. What can of worms could I be opening re attaching these wires? lord only knows why they were cut!?

on the positive side, the engine is all timed up rocker cover and exhaust manifold are back on. not alot left to do really

The chances are they have just fallen off! poor design and short wiring loom doesn't help when you are moving the gear stick! use the 'search' tool and you will find a few posts on this subject.......................

It was the hill descent. i will re solider tonight with a few pictures. A

lso on the progress side of things i got the 2 rear side windows tinted and the front leather seats cleaned.
