If you say so, regulars would disagree:rolleyes: plus second hand they are not liked in the trade

Most people post on these forums because they have a problem in the hope that maybe there is someone who can offer helpful advise (as opposed to sarcastic drivel.... No offence).
There are a lot of posts for all models, does that mean they are all crap, or is it just p38's that get the abuse?
Yes they (p38's) can be expensive when they go wrong, yes the electrics can be a pain (isn't that true of most modern vehicles?), but surely I'm not the only one who has had no real problems?

Slipped liners / bcem loosing sync / brake modulator failure / repeated flat batteries through wireless receiver or bcem issue /HEVAC blend motors etc etc

Seeing 4.0 and 4.6 with slipped liners on a weekly basis at mates garage:D But if you know better

Ive owned half a dozen p38's 4.6's and diesels, They are a great looking car and drive beautifully but i wouldnt have one for my every day car i couldnt trust any of em to get me any distance without incident.

What do you buy a p38 owner for Christmas-breakdown cover

Never said I know better! Can only go on my own experience. My 95DT occasionally had the flat battery problem (if left for more than 1 wk), I also fitted a hot start solution. My current 2000 DHSE has 107k and to date it's just normal wear and tear.
Both I have bought from a friend who himself sources good ones for himself and spares no expense himself if something needs doing. Having said that he also has had no big problems with them and now owns an '05 model.

I suppose though if you don't like them there's nothing much that can be said to change your mind ........ :):)

I have had a p38 and looked at quite a few, bottom line the diesel is slow but better reliability.
The V8 are fun but a reliability disaster, as nathan says-fun but it will not be reliable

Must admit I 'chipped' both of mine because of the sluggish performance, but I'm determined that I am not going to get paranoid about reliability. Like I say I've had no problems and when this one is ready for changing I will hopefully go for a later model (sport or L322) ........ Oops! Am I now going to get more abuse? :D
On the other hand of course it may have to be push bike with the price of diesel etc :D:D

Irish rover had a thread on L322 age related failures, time will tell

Got my DHSE about 18 months ago with 92k on the clock, replaced airbags, aircon condensor, window regulator, engine oil cooler and a height sensor all very early on. All I regard as normal wear & tear items. 12K miles it's never let me down. cost a bloody site less than the Xtrail that preceded it which had an appetite for turbo's and intercoolers not to mention the non functional handbrake.

So I'm not the only one then :D

Xtrails are shocking bad for reliablity

wot yu base that on - mine has been brill - I bet it was a doozil X-T. and the handbrake is poor, coz it is inside the rear disk hub Tiz only a parking brake really.

Of course it was a diesel, I live in france and diesel is much cheaper than petrol:rolleyes:
Drum handbrakes inside discs work well if they are properly designed, the Xtrail's are so bad it would not pass the French MOT without over adjustment. Almost impossible to start on a hill with the caravan on the back. Nissan admitted that it was a design fault, then told me to eff off:mad:
Truly a complete bag of ****e. Oh and the SatNav was worse then useless, I reckon the mapping was circa 1970.
The Navarro is even worse for reliability.
