Hi everyone, bought a 2003 'Kalahari' a few months ago. I used to own an old Disc and that was a good car but the Hippo is turning into a right ****. The dealer fitted a new clutch and DMF on purchase. A few weeks later the smell of diesel lead me to have a new HP fuel pump fitted, (£600) but now it's pluming black smoke!
Started on a motorway drive, hesitancy and drop in power; occasional 'pinking' followed by unbelievable amounts of black smoke. Warning light on occasionally, (whereupon it would improve slightly). After a day spent understanding the motor, I found that removing the Mass Air Sensor lead resulted in a drivable vehicle; a bit of smoke if your heavy footed but it will spin along a 70MPH and is only a bit short on power. So I spent £100 on a new e-bay Bosch sensor replacement but it makes no difference. Same symptoms with the new sensor fitted.
Anyone any ideas? I'm at my wits end here, money is tight and it's costing me a fortune.
Sorry if I have the forum protocol wrong, I don't normally do these things but the forum is so full of knowledgeable people I'm really hoping someone will give me a lead.
