dont start, but..... my nice shiney freelander td4 ive only had for 4 wks ( 03 plate ) has broken on the m3 on the way home from basingstoke. ..grr.. a quick call to green flag to join on the spot and im being collected on the back of a low loader in the dark in the rainn, not too happy :(
he thinks ( recovery man ) my fuel pumps stopped, he says he disconnected the pump and the tone didnt change, ie he couldnt hear the fuel being pumped with or without it connected, he said either pump or relay..

any pointers

also any pointers to reliable independants whom can fix this asap, its my main means of transport, so needed for daily use to work and back...

im in farnham and green flag will take it to a garage of my choice within 10 miles of my house..

any ideas on costs of pump/relay if it is that,
thanks

p.s i still like it :D

well which pump did he think it is? dont there feckers actually do anything nowadays? "thinks its a relay", y didnt he try a new one? test the current at pump? i bet the lazy prick didnt even check the fuses

feckers, the only time ive used them is with fleet cars so i didnt care what happened. recovery meant to local garage, then hire car. usually v6 vw passat or something. oh, and the time be TD4 caught on fire. if they ever tried to recover me for something fixable on me own car id fecking kill em

HI MOSS sorry to hear bout yer pump . . .on your model td4 yer got 2 pumps one int tank tother int front[rhs near wheel arch] here the low down, furst check fuel pump fuses , the relay is timed ,so wiff ign on [dont start it ]you should feel the pump in the front vibrate for bout 12secs. . . .if yes relay is good if no ,check relay and fuses again, now lets assume yer fuel filter has been changed[fer now] if you dissconect the fuel pipe at inlet to under bonnet pump switch on ign [have rags handy ] an no smoking. . . it should **** out doozle ,if you get foam or a trickle yer pump in rear tank is fooked [dont know how much they are] but they come complete with a fuel sender [the part that tells how much fuel in tank] carpet in rear has to come out . . .if after doing any fuel job on a td4 ,it take a while to restart as the air has to be chased out [these are self priming ] so just keep cranking till the bitch fires. . . .the rear pump is normally the culprit [not all the time but around 70%]. . . .hope this helps yer earthling:) :)

cars back, and with a huge repair bill

970.69 ! ! thats real money..

replace intank fuel pump
replace line fuel pump
new fuel filter
replace no 3 injector

270 labour !

please someone tell me this isnt caused by adding anything non std to the car ie i was running a roverron system which the garage frowned upon giving it the old "bosch spent millions developing these systems not for you to put a gadget on !"
i dont beleive him anyway, but would a roverron cause more wear and tear and put fuel pumps under preasure ?? now its back and the roverron units off its slow again, sluggish..

sounds like you have been f*ucked by the dealer ,
why replace both pumps ?, whats the odds of them both failing together,, cant see that happening

as for the synergy unit, this wouldnt put any extra demand on the pumps / fueling, not that you could measure anyways ,

robbing b*stards

Jesus, £970 thats not nice as mentioned always ask for the replaced parts back.

That way they it reduces your chances of getting done up like a kipper.

Only this week one of my engineers vans started to splutter, garage where it was towed to wanted £470 + Vat for a new ECU

Fine produce the old ECU then, err we threw it out, yes course you did.

Turns out it was a split intercooler hose £20.00 + Vat the ECU wasnt for my van at all it was another vehicle.
Blatant attempt to rip us off. Hid behind the lie they had made a mistake.

not all recovery drivers are useless....

sometimes its best to take straight to garage.

would you like to be laid on your back under a car on the hard shoulder????

anyway its illeagle to repair on hard shoulder.

i'm a recovery mechanic and i try to fix/diagnose where ever possible.
