Thats not too shabby is it..cant see too much from pics but usual rot around door pillars/posts and under windscreen isn't there...Is that rear x member ok?

Whats it got in it ..2.25 petrol? Be nice if you spend a few quid and hours on it..new paint, refurb the wheels etc.

Hi Storm
Engine is 2.25 Diesel no turbo it is the original engine It still has the hand crank bar to start engine if needed, not used it yet as I wanna keep my thumbs:D:D
Starts on the Key.

Wheels gonna stay just Respray if needed

X member seems straight and solid.
soon as I got it I had a mate weld one of three bits we found,
1 was the bar that goes from the Outrigger to chassis behind the Drivers front wheel, Passenger side just below the window will see primer patch In pics to come and the lower door pillar below the hing, Bulk head is solid, sorry forgot the floor under the pass seat had gone been patched and then spent 2 days 1 day wire brushing and 1 day with a big tin off waxoyle covered evey part of the chassis my brush and sprayer could get, even had the floor out to do the tops of the chassis rails My neighbour is a panel beater and want's to get his hands on it and help,

Previous owner had painted it drab green i call it, the finish is like Hammerite, but there is a lot of yellow behind lights and where they hadn't brushed it properly, gonna be my summer project
Some mods people might not like but they were done for a reason.
Blimey 00.50 better get some slep before work
More tomorrow knight

A Friend of mine was changing his grill on his Defender as it had broke,
and thought what would it look like on mine made it look horrible. Looks ok ona Defender but not a series:D

basicly put the lights on the roof to fill some holes that were there
swapped the wing mirrors for s3 mirrors as trying to look in the wing mirrors was doing me in trying to see in them with the wobble from the wing

First mod I did was seat belts could not reach the gear stick and other controls with the standard seat belt on so a mate was scrapping an a sherpa van so I had the seat belts out

Hi All
Done this mod as the original seats had gone doue to tears and water as there was 3 holes in the Roof when the preavious owner had net sealed them properly after removing lights

These seats are out of an XR3i I think it was that a mate was scrapping.

Had to get some metal to strenthen the seat boxes up so the bolts holding the seats in would't pull through

The Seat box After fitting the first metal bar

Will have to take more recent pics of the seats finish as i accedently deleted the finished seats pic:doh::doh:

Nice motor, good seat belt/seat mod. I hope the grille isn't staying? I like the 2a grilles, rarely see them. Those wing mirrors look a little sticky outy.. I got some defender ones on mine I think.. By the look of your gearstick, I think someone has put mine on wrong.... ie' the crank is facing the passenger side!! I have to change that anyway, got a new one with a bigger ball! stops the stick becoming dislodged every 500miles or so. cheers keep it up.

Hello Gem
The Original s2 grill is back on, My mate was changing Defender front and as I had Taken the gill of He bolted the old defender one on, so I left it while I was doing bits so i didn't damage it.

Moved the Mirrors to there as the original one on the wing, just could not see anything out of it as it was virating so much couldn't see in it.
think the mirriors are S3's Did have an accedent when putting them on as drill slipped and went through the glass, hence the yellow door top n/s

The Seatbelts went to put them how they normally are in a car but nowhere to bolt them to, after this mod a mate then told me about a bracket you can get for it, must edit the bit with s/belt forgot to say about the inch thick plate on the out side of the cab where s/belt bolt goes through for strenght. To be honest I prefer this way it's comfey as when on it comes up over the shoulder rather than across from side.

Gearstick is ok but my Hi-Lo leaver is a bit tight in the forward postion, so just gonna losen floor around it and muck about till good fit.

More to come Better go do some paid work:D:D

Next Mod Vent Grills got fed up in summer when vents open bees and bugs getting in found these on ebay £10 for both if I remember correctly

They are pop riveted in to place, could use self tappers but i didn't have any

The Only Mod Under the bonnet, can't even call it a mod.
Just after I brought it the Cable on the Engine stop snaped, so I was stopping it by Placing a bit of card over the air intake, and suffocated it.

Nowhere I tried round Here had one. Years ago I had a Morris Thousand I was doing up but the Rust had got hold of the car so stripped it and scrapped the shell + Chassis. while moving bits in the shed found the chock switch from the Morris, so that is what is on there now works a treat. Also had to replace the linkage for the engine stop the bit that goes into the pump. Think I got some picks of that. see if i can find them.

What seat runners did you use? I've got a pair of seats off a mk3 fiesta Si that I've just scrapped that are bloody comfy and would hopefully work well :)

Hi TheKeymeister
as there is not a lot of room to slide the seat I did away with the original runners, the seat is bolted straight to the seat box with some steel under the Ali of the seat box for strenght and so the Bolts wouldn't pull through the ali.

The steel I used was some 1970's Filing cabinet drawer runners that i got when work was scrapping them.
