Decided to change spark plugs and leads, no problems engine running sweet so was a bit horrid to see the state of the Champion plugs fitted.
The gab on some of the plugs is as big as all my feeler gauges together:eek:
Surely well used, how the engine was running so sweet on them is odd.
New Bosch Platinium plugs fitted with thicker leads, still running sweet:)
This on a car with full LR service history:confused:

In the late 80s with race mini engines I often had problems with plugs oiling on the over-run with a Weber DCOE carb (common problem with these carbs), cured by switching to NGKs. Similarly the dozens of feisty two stroke bikes I've burned my way through over the years always ran cleaner with NGK plugs. One particular tuned RD I had would kill Champion plugs stone dead in a week, NGKs lasted between services. Just my observations of course - not a scientific study.

NGK r pfR6N 11 Have been very good - recommend.

.............nice clean engine, how many miles?

Just run in @ 56K --- will see how the Bosch Platinium plugs are in a while, quite a lot more "body" than the Champions...

Just fitted NGK's to my P38 and was amazed at the difference in pick up and smoothness, the old plugs must have been in there a while (I have only had the car 3 months) and there were 2 different sizes and brands fitted - next thing to replace is leads with some Magnecor ones.

So much for the full LR service history. Those plugs have never been out and cleaned and gapped since Adam was a lad. They have not gone like that because they are champion plugs but through poor maintenance. Also you must have a really cheap crappy set of feelers. :D:D

wammers Also you must have a really cheap crappy set of feelers. could have gapped them better with a knife out the kitchen draw:D[/QUOTE said:
Come on Wil you did say the gaps on some were bigger than all your feelers put together. Either a figure of speech which i think is was, or you have the most incomplete set of feelers on the planet. :D:D
