Hi,

So whilst I've been away at Uni, my dad took my Landy in for its first MOT since being rebuilt. It failed on the near side front wheel bearing.
But I put new wheel bearing in during the rebuild so it can't be because they're worn out. So I am thinking maybe something is too tight or too loose. Since I am still away, I haven't been able to investigate but was wondering whether someone could suggest something I may have done a bit wrong to give the mot the impression that the wheel bearing is gone? He said when he spun the wheel it gave the characteristic noise of a shot wheel bearing.
There isn't any signs when driving of it being shot and no side to side movement when jacked up....

Thanks

Jasper

You may have not tightened it up enough and it's just bedded down and needs nipping up, nothing major and easy to check

I am back tomorrow so I'll check that out.

how many wheel bearings did you put in?

Good question, it was one of the first jobs I did so that was way back in the summer but I think I did both... I am assuming that since I stripped the axle right down bar the diff.
Is there an easy way to check?

Cheers

do what the garage did and feel the tyre for rumbling when moving it slowly.

cheap bearings? did you change the races, replaced the grease, yada.

:)

Turns out I appear to have filled the bearings up with sand.... Think i will make sure I do it in a cleaner environment this time around!
