morning, just joined as i picked up my 'p' reg disco v8 up on thursday and thought id join up as it looks like a good forum. im back in a landrover after 8yrs away.
just a quick question when i start up the disco on a morning the revs seem to stick for about ten minutes or so at over 2k on the rev counter and it sounds like a ufo taking off, are there any known issue's with the automatic choke or revs stick?????

Open to correction, but my RRC V8 from 1988 does exactly the same. on mine it's the cold start injector (the one in the top of the plenum chamber) thats got old and tired and is over-fuelling until it cuts out when its warmed up. You'll have a different injection system overall (mine's flapper, I think yours is a hot-wire type), but that's still my guess.

If it is, it's a simple thing to change. Just pull the connector off it with the engine running, if the revs drop to normal, that's your culprit.
Cheers, Jon
