hi all just went out to jump in my 1998 p38 diesel auto drivers door didnt unlock on fob then battery nearly flat had to jump took for drive came back said gearbox fault , and drivers door does not lock or unlock from fob any ideas please

new battery fitted starts ok now but door still wont lock unlock with the others guess could be the door central lock ?

Looking like it. Just had to change mine. You can't change just the motor, it's the whole lock assembly that has to be changed. They're about £120 or so from Land Rover or you get a used but good one from Ebay. They're fiddly things to get in and out but maybe Gav Briggs on here has an easy method. I think he's the door lock queen. Beware the fleabay ones though. Caveat emptor and all that.

now the passengers door has stopped unlocking locking have not sorted drivers door yet either is this comman fault what should i be checking anything ??

Is the passenger door in "Superlock" mode (Can't be opened manually from inside & outside) ?
Good chance the latch motor has gone on that one.
I had a P38 a couple of months back and the drivers door latch motor had gone. The front passenger lock was in superlock and would not respond even after a new latch was fitted to the drivers side and was working fine. Had to replace the passenger latch as well. Unfortunately for the owner it cost him £129.99 apiece for two new latches (Genuine) from Island 4x4.

Have you done the fob reset, lock drivers door with key, press and hold unlock button then unlock door, repeat to lock.
Could all be related to the original fooked battery, always look on the bright side lol.
