I've been a good girl and told my insurer that my hippo is now in mondo mode
(i have my reasons). I thought it would be a simple phone call but am now awaiting a call back after 2 hours so far as they don't seem to be able to get their heads round it and have had to refer it to 'scrutiny' whoever they are.

Anyone else had similar?

Only took my rear drive train off for a short period of time whilst waiting for recon VCU so did not notify insurer, almost certainly should have done as it is modifying the vehicle and it does alter the driving characteristics.

Yes, I tried to explain that I wanted to git an electric water pump to try to combat HGF. They had no idea what I was on about and just got terribly confused. To be honest I'm not sure I'm going to bothe rtrying to explain it, it's not a performance mod and it's not going to cause an accident.

Still waiting... you'd think they'd come across this before or maybe they haven't!

I've noticed a few threads about this subject and they all say they notified their insurers. What they don't say is if their premiums went up or if their insurance was invalidated completely

Admiral called back and said my insurance is still OK while they wait to hear from another department who need this form filled in which included details of where I had it done and who did it??? I mean, its just a freaking propshaft, I could do myself if I wanted to.

I can't cross this off my list til this other department OK it but I can drive on my current insurance in the meanwhile. Better get over to tescos to do the shopping while I'm still insured...

I had no issues from my insurer, I told them when I called them, they put me on hold for two minutes, said it was fine. All good ;)

Dropped my prop off shortly after I got the hippo due to the VCU being shot. Rang my insurers and they had no problem at all - and no increase in premium either.

The problem is, if you remove the prop and don't tell them, you're technically uninsured as it's a modification from the manufacturer's standard, and in the event of a claim it's something they can use against you. Better safe than sorry.

Admiral were complete and utter ****s with my mods.

I got a quote for the car with and with out mods and there was a few hundred difference.

They they charge more money on top of that to actually insure the modifications!!

Screwed twice!

Yep admiral were plonkers with me too. Went with a specialist policy brokered through A Plan in the end. Half of what I was being quoted elsewhere and I get any mod I want :).
