MOD sales

I noticed that the MOD are auctioning off a lot of Defender parts on their website MOD Sales, Military Vehicles & Used Ex MOD Land Rovers for Sale - may be of use to someone.

That is Witham's website, not the MOD!

Witham's have the main contract with the military / gov to sell off their surplus equipment, they've been in operation for donkies years and have a 700 - 1000 item auction every month or two, then general auctions and sales running the whole year round.

Nearly everything goes for way more than it is worth, except the odd brand new D4 / RR - which is for export outside of the EU only

I was hoping that there may be something of use for someone.

I was told by a guy who is an Army mechanic, that they are trialling the G-Wagon


And that there are large reserve stocks of low mileage mint Defenders that will be sold in the near future. He said a lot of them are "TD5 but with 300tdi engines" Do they change the engine??

There are a lot of TD5 parts in the 300tdi Wolf, could be he means that.

The army carried on using the 300tdi after the TD5 came in, they had concerns over the ECU sheilding, and in feild servicing, so the ex mil ones are TD5 bodies, interior etc, but still with the 300TDI fitted.
Then only exMOD proper TD5s out there were for civvy use, or some that stayed on UK bases.

That could be the best Defender of all!

TD5 with a 300tdi engine. As many say the 300tdi was the best engine, and the TD5 the last Defender before the Puma with the Ford engine
