My 2001 TD5 110 DCPU was purchased to replace my XS 90 about 6 months ago as i was threaders with the 90's ABS, TC electrics messing up. The 110 has wind up window's, key lock doors etc and i love it for being simple..... Unfortunately the previous owner had a META M500 alarm fitted at some point. Handy as a deterrent due to the little alarm light but i hate the issues they cause......
Well this morning at 0300hrs i was awoken from my slumber by what sounded like my Landy horn (don't be dirty??) i had a quick check out the window but nothing was up so i tried to go back to sleep. 15 mins later and the alarm sounds proper and the side lights come on???
I throw on some clothes and run out with the key's but the blipper dosnt resolve, i see my neighbours lights coming on so decide that i should move the vehicle due to the noise. So there i am driving down the road with the alarm going crazy at random intervals.
after 5 mins of driving the alarm stops so i decide to head home.
On a Mon/fri i commute 110 miles to work (normally in my Mk3 tdi golf estate) . I usually leave home at 0500hrs so on this occasion i decide that ill drive the truck down and see if i can sort it.
Well at 0400hrs I'm heading down the A417 and the alarm starts again, seems to go off whenever i go up hill.
Then by the time i reach M50 the alarm is sounding randomly and the instrument lights are now blinking on and then off.
By the time i hit the M5 I've got no instrument lights and have to use my GPS for speedo and the alarm is sounding at random times - as the alarm sounds the main beam now comes on. Other road users are getting annoyed and i am proper threaders.
i eventually arrive at my destination at 0700hrs turn off the truck and now it won't start.
I've turned the alarm off with the alarm key but think that the starter relay is burnt out. Got fuel pump buzz and all ignition lights but no starter motor click.
:scratching_chin:
So apologies if you were harassed by a red 110 DCPU early this morning with horn sounding and M/beam flashing
Got green flag home start arriving at 0900hrs tomorrow - ill keep you posted.
